Nullarbor, the links & The Bight

Off we go full of beans and excited to get to the first hole of golf (which we were playing on the sly) as we both refused to pay $70 for a scorecard, for one of the worst kept "greens", (and I use that word loosely) in Australia, albeit its the longest course in the world, but I managed to locate a tour pamphlet which looked identical to the scorecard that we both looked at and turned our nose up at. So we have made a little box on the pamphlet and will record our score onto that.
On the ay we get overtaken by a oversize vehicle and it was a truck hauling a house

Nundroo here we come

We find the hole called Wombat hole and both have a chuckle at the broken table at the start of the hole. After we have posed for a few shot's around the "wonky" table we are off, in the rain. This was a par 5 and near 500m (thanks for the golf balls dad, they cost a mint from a roadhouse) So with a rain to lift the spirits, we finish up and I've hit the ball 13 times and Nick 15 times! There must be a record in that.

We fill up at the servo, buy a sticker and head off, its still raining. ( Lucky we figured out she charged us $22 for the sticker before we left so we could get our $ back) We head for Yalata, (small Aboriginal community with kids I work with living there) to go and visit.

We rock up and are feelin' a bit out of place and find the store to grab a couple tins of dog food.. Then start walking over to the school and run into a few kids, which starts the ball rolling, and eventually we see all the people in Yalata that I know. What a great visit! Andrea (X student) was working and it was great to see her sitting at the office, behind a desk!

Off we head to the head of the bight, crossing our fingers that we might get to see a whale. Its all closed when we arrive so we camp at the gates, and I cook up a pasta and we have some red wine to celebrate nicks birthday. After all the phone calls stop we look outside and think that the sky is putting on a show with the way the stars are shining for nicks birthday.

We start the day slow and steady and head off into the Head of the Bight. We saw this MASSIVE eagle on the road in, we turned around to try and get a shot but the picture doesn't do it justice would have been 1.5m tall!!! We pay $5 each to go and have a look, but are told (after we pay) that there are no whales (yet) only dolphins, and maybe you could spot some seals. They asked if that was us camped at the gates, and if we saw the white Dingos (3)?

After we had a "sneaky" fill up with water we hit the road to continue on our Nullarbor journey!
