WWOOF WWOOF

So funny as it sounds, Nick was on the internet checking out some blog for a permaculture farm he was interested in at Franklin who had mentioned they take WWOOFers. It was the day of love (valentines and we were both feelin pretty down cuz we hadnt got the gig to WWOOF in Cygnet) We headed over to the local pub, to quench our thirst and walked straight into the people who had written the blog... Penny and Karim!! The Blog is called Caughtintheart (also on blog spot)

this is a shot of Penny and Karims Straw bale house the are building

They had been having a WWOOFer break but were keen to invite us over... only problem was they looooove cats!!!

we set up home at the top of there drive in front of the WWOOFer caravan

It all worked out and we had a great time WWOOfing! Penny and Karim were great hosts and we learnt alot. I got creative in the Kitchen, made some marmalade and zuchinni relish.... sunflower seed Pate and some great meals for us all (needless to say the were vego too). Nick had fun diging thru the garden and Penny and Nick spoke in depth abouth how she could implement some if his ides's into the permeculture design garden, was a great learning environment. We also spent a fair  bit of time wth their chooks, as we miss our own girls, and made some extra "runs" for their girls, we have had some great updates from Matt, with some cute pics of our girls and its kept us happy!! cheers Matt... you rule and im sure our girls are in heaven in your yard.

After a couple days sloggin thru some Tassie heat Penny and Karim decided that for Sunday "rest day", they would take us on a big bushwalk, they had never been on it before but it heard it was good. Off to Lake Skinner we went an approx 6hrs return. It was a very steep walk and it was a warmish-hot day for Tas round 30'C. We left round 11am so walked thru the stupid heat of the day. Once we climbed to the peak, after going over many mountain ranges we found this blissful lake and had it all to ourselves. stopped chilled and had some soggy wraps for lunch, then headed back down.
Which was the worst part as we were having to jump down bolders and rock walls that we had climbed up,  So what did i do on the way down, stacked it of course.. did my ankle again (same poor thing, i dont think it will ever heal) and the my oppostite knee! ouch !! still feeling my knee (ova 2wks later) might need to get a professional opinion. Was speaking to Eleanore about this and she made me feel heaps better by saying that i have never been such a damn Klutz, so it might have something to do with all my ear problems, loss of balance etc. Needless to say we are not going to go on any more 5-6 hr + walks for a while.

Amazing Views

Grining from the Top!!

She is ment to have white sox

Once we got back our girls were hammered ,after such a massive walk and we " tucked" them in for a happy sleep and then headed over to have a movie night, great idea and all but we were all pretty tired and i can barley remember the movie itself.

We stuck around at the farm a couple more days, and Nick was invited to play in the pool competition for the Franklin team called the Sunflowers. Penny was fillin me in about their success and if you know much about my Basketball team  (the Randoms) this Pool team has had much similar success. Needlessto say they lost, and we headed off the nest moring.  We have fallen in love with the Franklin Bar, if your ever in Tassie stop in, friendly people and a really nice vibe.

We spent the next nite at Mt Rosby Lookout which over looked Hobart and the view was amazing...

Then we headed on...
