Tasmania Tasmania

Our last few weeks in Tasmania went as follows.....

found an awesome spot near Swansea
Wanted to visit the Eastcoast, get back to the beaches, and we had left that till last as it was really busy over Dec and Jan.

Plus Sahara loves the beach

very rough sea, some poeple were actually swimming in this.

Then we Headed to the Bay of Fires way, Friendly beaches, Wineglass bay and thru Binalong Bay . found an awesome spot on the beach front at Bay of fires ..... and spent 3 nights there.

We had some pretty lousy weather so we decided to batton down the hatches and watch some breaking bad. (destroyed my phone by leaving it out in the rain, so we now own a $30 Telstra ph that is diving us both crazy with its complete ack of features)

We found the "spiky bridge" which was creativitly named due to its spikyness, made by convicts.

For anyone who has watched breaking bad this sign is for you.....

(Jessie Pinkman)LOL  Was a great blow hole anyways, we just had to contend with all the tourists (much like ourselves)

Then we headed inland again and got lost doing a scenic (off road dirt track) drive thru the Blue Teirs Mountain ranges

Then we did a couple of shorter rainforest walks to Halls Falls (as below) only took about an hour and a half

This walk was wet underfoot and Nick and i both copped a few Leeches. We were Talking in the car and wondered in dogs could get the because they have fur coats.....  We were wrong

Then we walked the St Columba Falls walk, which are the Tallest in Tassie at over 90M. was a great stroll( only 15 minutes or so) thru a fantastic rainforest.  Needless to say we checked the girls thouroughly for any creepy crawlys...

We spent the night at the Weldborough Hotel, and paid $10 a night for showers, we do prefer to find free camps but we were pretty stinky, grimy and sandy at that point. We also met some other young South Aussies, who have a 8mth old and are travelling around in a Kombi Van, they leave Tassie on Monday the 4th, and we had a drink together. It had been hard to actually find other young travelers, were not to fussy but we do like to catch up with pople our age every now and then. They had found it hard too, so we have exchanged numbers with Prue and Eddie (who works at the Wheatsheaf) and we are going to meet up on the rd, let eachother know if there are any cools spots or things to do, have dinner dates and movie nights! Its a bit cute heh?

We moved on spent the night at Myrtle Park, Nick reckons the guy who works there, ate his second head off and that is why he has a scar and a big belly... needless to say we got outta there quick and moved on...

Found a cool Pub at Mole Creek, and the Locals told us the spot to camp which was awesome.... in the middle of forrest with a running river behind us... too bad it was full of possums. Our Dogs have built up a unhealthy Hate of possums, so we spent most of the night listening to the possums make these ungodly noises, even thogh we had our girls locked away.

Went to Cradle Mountain, was very pretty, but they are toatally making big bucks there, so we decided to move on... and we found the beer drinkers Holy grail

Yeah... so we had a tasting and bought up big, then went on our Merry way thru Sheffield ( was an amazing place with a beautiful backdrop of these rocky mountains sticking up in the middle of this wide semi flat vally.  Sheffield is known as the town of Murals we really liked this one of kids playing Marbles.

Also found this old bowser which reminded Nick of his dad John.

Thanks to the fantastic camps book we found a great spot to camp out at Lake Barrington and spent the next few nights there. It was pretty full of free campers, but we nabbed a secluded spot kind of away from everyone else and could have the dogs running around. Had a  really cold night (2 Dog on the bed night) followed by a mild night being Friday all the teenagers and locals with boats made there way out there, and if there wern't doughnuts gettin laid on the ground then the people skiing on the back of the boats started killing it for us, so we moved on and found.... ( a cider haus was really yummy and required another tasting )

Don Foreshore, just out of Devonport. Nick Found it and its amazing. we had it all to ourselves and watched the Spirit travel out and had a cheers with our special beers to our next part of our trip.....
