Family fun

We headed on, said our goodbyes to Adelaide. We were a bit delayed leaving so we could attemd Auntie Kaye's Funeral. Went from Kapunda through to the southern flinders rangers. We wanted to get near Pt Agusta so we could sleep in and meet John and Diane mid morning. We picked a spot, which can be a challange and dissapointing at times and drove, we have to venture through 7km of windy dirt road, in the pitch black to get there. Once we arrived it was a cold windy night, and we just re-heated afghani leftovers and "bunkered" down, we wondered why no one else ws around, it being school holidays???.

We woke up in the morning to the most amazing lookout ever! We got up really early but couldnt get back to bed as the view was spectacular!!!
lookout the pictures don't do it any justice

amazing

We spent some time getting organised, keeping the girlies away from some sheep that happened to be in the paddock, then planned our rendavous with John and Diane at Pt Agusta. We did it well as we arrived within minutes of eachother!

We had planned to push on to Pildappa Rock, which is a lovely "wave" rock formation just past Kimba at Minnipa.

We arrived a around 5:45pm, and set up and started a fire. It was a wet night and we had a big day of driving, so we all tried to have a quite night, after some amazing vege burgers for tea.

Up and at 'em, this Family is early to rise, we set off to climb the rock. Was a nice climb and not as hard as we thought, was drizzling with rain but still worthwhile. We arrived back and and after a big Sunday "plowmans" breakfast we started to pack up a little, one more climb up this rock for good measure and we were away.

We set off again aiming for Ceduna and passed the Ausie iconic concrete crappa.

We had guard come loose under the Snail,( well spotted John) and we were off to Ceduna! We got in Just before 2 and Diane and i hit the shops then we set off again. Saw this beauty of a sign on the pump at BP...

We arrived at Fowlers just before 6pm, and were grateful the driving was done and that this was holiday time, kick back and relax!!!

Nick and John did some fishing and were very lucky, on most days. The Jetty above was very popular with all the fisherman. I am glad Nick had someone to keep him company as i dont enjoy fishing at all (ive tried it once and freaked out when i caught something, nearly started crying and all that, so its not for me at all) Nick caught a massive squid, (well over 1kg) and John caught quite a few fish also. The main fish that were caught included Leatherjacket's and Tommy Ruff's.

Diane and i amused ourselves by colouring hair, reading, chatting (i had day time naps, i can thouroughly recomend them) and cooking, we
walked the girlies to the Jetty to see the Fishermen, and tried to keep Brutus (the town dog) at bay, because he and Delta did not get on well.

We all Climbed the big sand dune to watch the sun set, and have "happy hour" at the top, and we also all did the 6km rtn walk to the Cemetary to see Andrew Dignham. On the walk there, guess what my eagle eyes spotted.... you got it Golf clubs!!!! They were half covered in sand and had been abandoned a long time ago. We scored a 5 and 9 iron aswell as a 1 wood( whatever they are!) We will play the Nullabor links in style now!!!

We had a few games of sequence, (winners are grinners )and sat by the camp fire a few nights, which was lovely. There was lots of surfers who were day tripping then returning to the caravan park to sleep, very friendly fellows.

We met a lovely copuple, from Melbourne and Scottland, and plan to keep in touch (Hello there Rob and Nicole, if ur reading this)

Nick and havnt spent this much time in a caravan park, ever, so was nice to be able to wake up, shower, cook in the kitchen, all things that you take for granted when you free camp most of the time. Particularly after we had been trekking up the dunes and were all sandy and smelly.

Was a teary end when it was time for John and Diane to hit the road. The Girlies will miss the treats (Johns whole chicken) and Delta even had a camp over in John and Diane's van. With our engel full (thanks Diane) and hearts happy we said our farewells. Many things we were going to swap over were forgotten, like sending back Hannahs bday card so it would reach her in time,(have spoken and wished Hannah a happy bday anyway) but these are the joys of being on holiday, thing just fall in to place.

rADELAIDE

We had a great time back in Adelaide. Nick was extremely busy fixing up all our car troubles, but he managed to get them sorted, with a little help from dad and Nathan. We have a new window, water pump& water storage unit. Plus all the car problems have been tended too. I am skimming over the full details but lots o work has been done! I also got help from Hannah, Emily and Olivia, with cleaning, repacking and sorting.

We were lucky to catch up with a few friends while back, it was hard as we wanted to see everybody but kept our trip back quite secret. We did attend Matt and Mels engagement party(thanks for a great nite, something to be said for having your home on your back thats for sure). I had some quality time with Eleanore, much needed recharge there!!! We also has a great dinner out with El, Luke Alex and Kara at Parwana Afgan in Thebarton (yum!)

Also got to catch up with a few special people from work, Miss the Kids and the staff but not the shift work, thats for sure!!!

We spent plenty of time with Family, (particularly our nieces, was such pleasure, they grow up so quickly).

Good to catch up with Aunty Pam(and Erica) from Mt Gambier, even though i didn't get up in time to wish you a safe journey home.

We were also able to attend my cousins Wedding (spectacular, another thanks for a great night needed!!) We got all dolled up and had a brilliant time, it was a lovely ceremony and a wild nite at the Crowne plaza ! Got our Dance on and spent some time with the Family which was great.

Thankyou for opening your doors, fridges and pantries to us and our girls John and Diane. We had such a great time staying with you and we all felt really welcome. It was such a nice change to be able to spread out and get sorted, after months of "on the road". Our girls were fed "A grade human meals" even conning you to get spares from the freezer. Delta found her sleeping place .... on your bed, your patience was much appreciated!

Thankyou for opening your doors, fridges and pantries too mum and dad, was great to be able to spend a few great nites with you, watch the TV with Dad and get fed up. The girls loved getting "nan scraps" again, though we didnt miss the pop-offs!!

We did manage to find a putter from an op shop at Kapunda to help us play golf across the Nullabor, will endeavor to get more clubs, but will play with the putter only if we have too! (its a good putter too, says Dad who wants to buy it off us when we finish). Will keep my eyes open and have a look in Pt Agusta too!

Until next time

Border track 4x4

Nick and I were surprised (and totally impressed) that we managed to drive the snail through the border track. It was a good challenge for us to figure out how the snail handled in the sand, and through the dunes, and because we hit the track on the Easter weekend( there was a motocross on
ambulance... you know just in case), as well as a lot of other 4x4's out there.

We decided to give it a go and had to have a laugh because if we got stuck then the people behind would have to  help out, as its a one way track!! Though... at one point we had to get the people behind to help us hold back a tree branch, (bit low clearance).

\
From the Lookout, about 10km in

nothing duct tape cant fix
Wish we did the same for the tree branch that broke our "bedroom" window, could of avoided a broken screen and glass on our bed. Hopefully the mosquitos don't find the snag in the screen, as my blood is delicious.
We still had around 40km+ to travel. So we pushed the snail on...we really couldn't turn around, one way track and all.  We drove through some beautiful scenery, and the summer colour's were amazing greens, reds and yellows. The picture below doesn't really do it justice.

We also spotted some amazing wildlife this Lizards was stunning, such vibrant colours for this dessert we were driving through.

The weather was amazing too, blue skies with some fluffy white clouds, all made for an enjoyable 4x4 experience.

The Girlies were getting fed up with being in a rocking snail, and having things tumble around( and sometimes on) them, and the track appeared to have no end in sight so we did the 'ol chase the car exercise run, worked a treat and they both were a lot more relaxed afterwards.

Ngallo

Original tyre, this place is a gem in the bush

We stopped here for the Easter long weekend, and as a bonus were rewarded with the site to ourselves!!! What a lovely find, free camping at its best. Ngallo Park is actually an old tennis club from the 1940's (ish maybe), and they just leave it open for you to use. The courts are non existent, there are trees pushing up through what is left of them anyways, there is no power, the loo's pretty iffy (in fact Nick was worried that I may have to pull him out of a pile of crap, as there was ply wood floor over the drop) but running water and shelter for us was available. We didn't need the shelter, although the sky was quite grey, we managed to sneak thru the weekend without thunder or rain! There was this little guest book and it had in it signatures dating back to 1986, and it had repeated visitors who would refer to their past entry's in this book. We loved it, the vibe of the place, and its not often that you can come across spots like this that are well kept, and not trashed. The shelter inside was well stocked (and clean), with candles and crockery, was nice to stretch out. There were even some board games!!

We had such a good first night that we decided that we could stay here another night to enjoy it and unwind a little bit more. The starts put on a show, which was surprising as it was quite overcast through the day.

We had some visitors the second night, but they were friendly enough and on there way back to
Victoria after a break in SA. We shared a few stories and then they set up and appeared to have an early night, while Nick and I watched some more breaking bad.

When we did  move on we were sad to go, but we were headed towards the boarder track, for some 4x4 adventure
As we pulled out it started to rain
